Bringing Toronto and Hong Kong together – with Basquiat

Basquiat 1 Basquiat 2 Basquiat 3

Howard arrives back in Toronto to visit the Basquiat show at the AGO in early March, linking his experiences in Hong Kong with his home in Toronto. Sin Sin Man, one of Hong Kong’s creative forces, hosted an amazing evening in January in Hong Kong for the opening of the photographs by Roland Hagenberg.  He was in New York in the 1980’s where Basquiat as well as other contemporaries like Keith Haring, and Madonna were starting up their creative lives. Howard was able to attend the opening in Hong Kong which featured an authentic Japanese Tea Ceremony and only a month later would attended the opening of the Photos of Jean Michel Basquiat at the AGO, also an exhibition hosted by Sin Sin, bringing both worlds together.
